Madeleine Sauvé, BA, RSSW/BA, TSSI

Grief & Bereavement Coordinator/Counsellor

Madeleine is a Registered Social Service Worker with a degree in Gerontology and more than 30 years of experience supporting individuals and families through palliative care, caregiving, dementia, and grief. As part of our Grief and Bereavement team, she provides compassionate guidance, education, and support to individuals navigating loss. A trained Grief Recovery Specialist and Good Grief Support Group Facilitator, Madeleine is passionate about helping people find hope, strength, and resilience throughout their unique grief journey.

Madeleine is the primary provider of our free 1:1 Adult Grief Support Services in North Bay, West Nipissing, and virtually/by phone.

Teri-Lyn French, HBSW DSW RECE RSW

Child Life Specialist

Teri-Lyn is a Registered Social Worker with a background in Early Childhood Education and Developmental Service Work, bringing over 10 years of experience working with children and families. A lifelong member of the Nipissing and East Parry Sound community, she is passionate about advocacy and supporting children, youth, and families through a person-centred, family-centred, and strengths-based approach. Teri-Lyn is also a dedicated advocate for mental health, developmental disabilities, and equitable access to care and support.

Teri-Lyn is primarily responsible for supporting children, youth, and families through serious illness, death, and grief by providing age-appropriate support, resources, and programs. She also works with local schools and community partners to support our community members, whether or not their loved one received care at the Hospice.

Lillian Cozac

Volunteer & Support Coordinator

Lillian supports the Grief and Bereavement Team by coordinating and helping facilitate grief support programming, including the Serenity Through Support Group. She also helps connect residents and families with complementary supports and resources during their end-of-life and bereavement journeys. With training in grief support and palliative care, along with more than a decade of experience supporting residents and families in long-term care, Lillian brings compassion, organization, and a strong understanding of the needs of those experiencing loss.

Grief-Trained Volunteers

Our Grief-Trained Volunteer Team provides compassionate peer support and companionship to individuals navigating grief and loss, both within the hospice and through our grief support groups. Volunteers complete comprehensive training in grief, active listening, and peer support, equipping them to offer a safe, compassionate, and understanding presence to those experiencing loss. Volunteers are carefully screened and bring a combination of training, empathy, and lived experience to their role.

Third-Party Grief Counsellors

Nipissing Serenity Hospice is currently collaborating with Carrie Becker, RSSW, OCSWSSW, of Connective Care to facilitate our West Nipissing Grief Support Program. Carrie is an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist and leads our monthly group sessions in West Nipissing.
